The Aalto University School of Business is the new name of the Helsinki School of Economics (HSE) which was founded in 1911. Today, the School of Business is the leading business school in Finland and one of the top schools in Europe.

The School is part of Aalto University, which was created in 2010 from the merger of three Finnish universities: Helsinki School of Economics, Helsinki University of Technology, and the University of Art and Design Helsinki. The Aalto University creates a science and art community from the three universities of technology, business and art and design. Merging the three universities provides possibilities for strong multidisciplinary education and research.

The Aalto University School of Business engages in economics and business research and education. It is an innovative and lively community of about 4,000 students and over 600 researchers, teachers and service personnel. The Aalto University School of Business belongs to the top 1% of schools of business that have been granted the most important international quality accreditations in its field: AACSB, AMBA and EQUIS. In 1998 the Aalto University School of Business became an academic member of the Community of European Management Schools (CEMS), thus enabling some of the Master’s students to obtain a CEMS MIM (Master’s in International Management Program) degree besides the Aalto University School of Business home degree. The school is also a member of PIM (Partnership in International Management).

The Aalto University School of Business is genuinely international. You can apply to any of the Master’s degree programmes offered at the Aalto University School of Business and if admitted, then apply for exchange studies at some of the 330 exchange partner universities around the world, CEMS and double degrees as a student.

Based on both high quality scientific research and intensive company relations, we give our students up-to-date education that combines extensive theoretical studies with experience of real business life. The academic degrees offered are the Bachelor, Master, Licentiate and Doctor of Science in Economics and Business Administration.

The Location

The main campus of Aalto University School of Business is located in the Helsinki Business Campus area in Töölö, center of Helsinki. The school has also another campus in Mikkeli, Finland. At the Mikkeli Business Campus it is possible to complete only the Bachelor's Degree in International Business.

Accreditation

The School belongs to the top 1% of schools of business that have been granted the most important international quality accreditations in its field: AACSB, AMBA and EQUIS. The school is a member of CEMS (the Global Alliance in Management Education) and PIM (Partnership in International Management).

Functional library services make it easier for the students to move forward in their studies: Aalto’s on-campus libraries provide opportunities not only for borrowing books but also for studying for exams, in addition to workstations for everyday academic tasks and information retrieval. The Career Services department provides career guidance and training while acting as a link between students and employers. Aalto Venture Garage offers everything students need to set up their own companies. Aalto Center for Entrepreneurship (ACE) coordinates all activities related to technology transfer, intellectual property management, startup companies and the teaching and research of growth entrepreneurship at Aalto University. The services of ACE are free of charge and available to all Aalto University students. Aaltoes, Aalto Entrepreneurship Society is an entrepreneurship community coordinated by the students of Aalto University. The aim is to gather the most talented students and researchers to create more startups and build international connections in and around Aalto University in Helsinki, Finland.

In addition, the Association of Economics Students in Helsinki (KY) and the Aalto University Student Union (AYY) arrange plenty of activities that support studying. Students can turn to them with any questions related to teaching, tutoring, developing teaching and legal protection concerning their studies.
