Hi Thomas,
My name is Ananya Upreti and i am from India. I've been following your site for quite some time and i'm pretty convinced to opt for MiM,once i complete my graduation.I have read the MIM Ebook and it has definitely increased my understanding about MIM to a certain extent. But i still have some doubts. I am currently a second year student doing my Bachelors in Arts. I have a strong desire to pursue a Msc. degree in management programme from the likes of ESSEC, HEC Paris etc. My profile is as follows:-Xth(CGPA)-8.8
XIIth (CGPA)-8.4
I am very keen on working in a corporate world, but have not done any internships as of yet, but I am in a dilemma of whether I should work on building an all round profile, which may get entertained by ESSEC/HEC, or focus on the conventional path of try getting an MBA degree from top B-schools of India. I request your kind help in clarifying my understanding regarding the following points:-Do I stand a chance of getting into any of these schools like ESSEC, HEC etc, in case I have a strong academic background in college?
If yes, please guide me on what i can do in these remaining period of 1 1/2 to 2 years (in terms of ECA/CCA activities) to build an overall sound and balanced profile.
What are the prospects of an Indian MIM student to work abroad, once he/she completes their Msc. degree?Does the French Government allow them to continue working or are they supposed to return back to their home country?
When do you suggest I should appear for GMAT, in case I wish to apply for scholarships?
I look forward to a reply at your convenience.
Thank you for your consideration,
Ananya Upreti.Posted by - Thomas Graf - on 14 August 2015 - 5:24pm
Hi there,
thank you for your message. You say that you have read my MIM eBook. That's great. So let me know what are your take-aways, particularly from
**- Chapter 1. Motivation - Career goals
- Chapter 2: Specification - Career benefits
**
This is a key step in you decision process and I am very interested to see how well you worked on this.As for your first question - "Do I have a chance of getting into HEC, ESSEC, etc.?" - have you read the admissions criteria sections of these schools' websites already? What's your take-away from it?
This investigation also covers your second question. You assume that a "balanced profile" will help you get into HEC etc. - but have you checked their actual requirements already? What if a school doesn't want a "balanced profile" but just focuses on your grade?
As for your third question, please read my Chapter on VISA regulations first and the Chapter Sources of Information - Talk to.
As for your fourth question, please read my Chapter Resources - GMAT.
If anything in my eBook should be unclear or if you still feel insecure, feel free to come back here - but first you need to tell me what you learnt from me eBook with respect to your questions, and then I will spend my time to guide you.
Best wishes
