Why did you decide for the MSc Supply Chain Management at the RSM?

I discovered I had a strong interest in the supply chain. I chose RSM because it is the right combination of location – Rotterdam is the most important port of Europe, the most prestigious programmeof its kind, and cultural diversity. The Netherlands is also known for being an expat-friendly country with an open mind and no language barriers.

What did you like the most?

My favourite courses were: managing the supply chain, and strategic sourcing. I liked the dynamism of the courses. We learned through different sources with guest lectures, company visits, simulators and games. Also, we had more than one lecturer in every course which gave us different points of view on the subject.

What about the other students?

The class was very dynamic. My fellow students were very competitive, which created a good learning environment. With so many different backgrounds we had the opportunity to discuss issues in a true global perspective.

What did you learn?

At RSM, we really learned about time management and how to be multidisciplinary students. We managed several tasks individually, in groups and even in real-life cases where the outcome of our task had an impact in companies such as Unilever, Johnson & Johnson and Philips.

How did you profit from this Master retrospectively?

My current position is Supply and Demand Planning Manager at Nutricia Exports. During my studies I decided to do a practice-oriented thesis. I looked for opportunities matching my research interest at companies that attract me to work afterwards. So I got a perfect opportunity as a global buyer intern in global logistics at Danone Nutricia Early Life Nutrition headquarters. My studies at RSM were the key in the hiring process. Danone recognized the quality of education offered by RSM. So immediately after mentioning my academic background they knew that I would bring value to the company. I also feel more confident that I’m well prepared to take on any role within the supply chain area.
